The demand for tech skills is rising fast in Ethiopia—and Weyra Academy is ready to deliver.

In July 2025, Weyra Academy, one of Ethiopia’s leading edtech startups, launched a new web development bootcamp in Addis Ababa. Targeted at university graduates and aspiring developers, the 6-week program covers HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and GitHub.
What sets Weyra apart is its hands-on, project-based learning model. Students work on live websites, collaborate on team projects, and present final portfolios to hiring partners like Ethiopian Airlines and Ethio Telecom.
By the end of the first cohort, 70% of graduates had internships or freelance gigs. The academy plans to expand into mobile development and UI/UX design.
The demand for job-ready developers is high, and Weyra is stepping up to close the gap.
“Coding is the new literacy,” says Weyra’s director, Lidet Tamrat.
